Gonzaga University
School of Education

Gonzaga University’s School of Education offers several Master’s programs to prepare educators by advancing their skills and knowledge.

The Master of Initial Teaching program prepares graduates for Elementary Education or Secondary Education teacher certification. Elementary graduates are prepared to teach grades K-8. Secondary graduates are prepared to teach a specific subject in grades 5-12. A Master of Initial Teaching in Special Education is also offered.

Gonzaga offers the Master of Education in two specialty areas:

Pacific Lutheran University
School of Education and Movement Studies

Pacific Lutheran University’s Department of Instructional Development and Leadership offers Master’s degree programs in Education. The school offers a Master of Arts in Education degree in the following specialty areas:

  • Elementary Education
  • Secondary Education
  • Instructional Leadership
  • Principal or Program Administrator

All of the above lead to certification in their respective areas.

They also offer a Master of Arts in Education – Alternative Routes to Certification program which allows students to earn their Master’s in Secondary Education and become certified primarily by working in the field while being mentored by someone in the school district where they teach.

Seattle Pacific University
School of Education

Seattle Pacific University offers Master’s level degree programs for educators. The first such program is the Master of Education degree program which is offered in the following specialties:

  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Educational Leadership
  • Literacy (Optional K-12 Certification)
  • School COunseling

They also offer a Master of Arts in Teaching program, a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics and Science program, and a Master of Arts in Teaching with Alternative Routes to Certification program.

Seattle University
College of Education

Seattle University’s College of Education offers educators a choice between a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree or a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree. They require the same number of credit hours. The difference is that the M.A.Ed. degrees require a graduate project while the M.Ed. degrees allow students to substitute an additional elective in place of a graduate project.

Whitworth University’s Graduate Studies in Education Program offers the Master of Education degree in the following:

  • Clinical Mental Health Counseling
  • School Counseling

A Master of Arts degree is also available in Clinical Mental Health Counseling as well as School Counseling.
