Special Education Degree Programs

Special Education programs focus on teaching children or adults with special needs and disabilities. They learn to identify learning disabilities in the population and develop individual plans for educating those with disabilities.

There are many Master’s level degree programs in Special Education. The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education is one of the most common programs.

Students choosing to pursue this degree are prepared as skilled special educators of students with disabilities. Typically, several concentrations are offered. These might include:

• Learning disabilities
• Emotional and/or behavioral disorders
• Mental disabilities

Many of these programs also include a concentration for educating gifted and talented students.
